Getting to know: Waruna Kirimetiyawa

written by Priscila BernardesJul 12, 2019 8:08:31 AM

Leveraging technology to create solutions that meet and exceed business needs is the stuff that drives Waruna.

He will get inside your skin, see things from your point of view, envisage the solution and make it happen!

Waruna started his career at Lancom as Graduate Systems Engineer, 16 years ago. We knew from the get go he had more to offer, and he sure didn't disappoint us!

With a fantastic trajectory Waruna rose through the ranks becoming Lancom Chief Technology Officer, General Manager, and now the Group CEO.

Bullet Proof is how we like to think about Waruna. You can say good bye to the usual IT rationalisation that is deliberately designed to confuse. His mantra is simple.

If you can't describe it simply, you can't do it.

Waruna's vision for Lancom is one of growth, without loosing the quality of service we pride ourselves on. Recently interviewed by Reseller News he quoted:

“While we’re an ICT company, this is still very much a people business, so we are investing time and effort into relationship building and understanding the technology needs of our customers."

Also known as "Wazzie" internally, he's a lover of coffee, a geek at heart, and a family man on his spare time. Give him a racket, and he will smash you at squash!

A fun fact: Apart from 5 people in the world which includes Waruna's parents, him and his kids - no one else holds the surname "Kirimetiyawa" (we won't blame you if you can't spell it! 😅).

Waruna really gets business. Importantly, he understands that tech is just a tool to be used to create leverage. He will move at a pace that makes sense to you, with depth and agility to get to outcomes that bring real impact.

How lucky are we to have him?
